Workshop on Offshore Wind Power Grid Connection Study
Workshop on Offshore Wind (OSW) Power Development and Grid Connection Study, in the form of online, was successfully held on Feb. 26, 2021. Nearly 20 Chinese and European experts from Tianjin University (TJU), State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company (JSEPC) and DNV attended the workshop from Tianjin, Nanjing, Shanghai, London, Berlin and Oslo respectively.
By the end of 2019, the cumulative installed capacity of China’s OSW had reached 7030 MW, becoming the third largest country in the world. In order to promote the large-scale development of OSW in Jiangsu Province, JSEPC commissioned TJU to carry out the consulting project “Large Scale OSW Grid Connection Technology and Practice Research” in May 2020.
The workshop was chaired by Prof. Jinlong Ma, Vice President of APSEC. Prof. Ma reported the overall progress of the project, summarized main research results of the project including Jiangsu OSW development, grid connection and plant operation and dispatching; Experts from DNV reported European OSW grid connection technology and practice. Experts warmly discussed the challenges faced by China’s OSW development, as well as the enlightenment of European experience on the large-scale development in China, which laid the foundation for the further research in the relate areas.
