The 3rd APEC Workshop on Sustainable Cities was Successfully Held in Hong Kong, China
On 15 May, the 3rd APEC Workshop on Sustainable Cities was Successfully Held in Hong Kong, China. The representatives from the APEC Secretariat, APEC Energy Working Group, IEA, WEC, APERC, EGNRET, EGCFE, EGEE&C, EGEDA, NEA, Zhangjiakou Municipal People’s Government, North Sulawesi, Indonesia, Tianjin University, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute, Hong Kong and China Gas Group, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited and CSCES attended the workshop.
The workshop was hosted by Mr. Guoqiang Li, member of APSEC Advisory Board andFormer Assistant Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, Hong Kong SAR Government , and Prof. Ruheng Zhao, Professor the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Ms. Li Zhu, the President of APSEC, was entrusted by the of Chairman of the University Council of Tianjin University Jiajun Li to deliver the opening speech. Ms. Xuantong Zhu Deputy Director of General Affairs Division in Department of International Cooperation of NEA was invited to attend the workshop and deliver the opening speech.
On behalf of APSEC, Ms. Li Zhu and researcher Mr. Zhexing Yan reported the background of the annual report of CNSC and the progress of the annual report preparation respectively.
Mr. Ying Guo, executive vice mayor of Zhangjiakou Municipal People’s Government; Mr. Jie Tang, former vice mayor ofShenzhen Municipal Government of China ; Ms. H.R.RoeRoe,Govemor Advisor on Sustainable Development,North Sulawesi, Indonesia Government, on behalf of their cities, delivered speeches on sustainable development status and future planning.
Experts from Tsinghua University, China Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute, Institute for Information Industry reported on green development, intelligent transport integration solutions and renewable energy utilization in Chinese urbanization sectors.
During this workshop, Zhangjiakou Municipal People’s Government and Tianjin new finance low-carbon urban design and research institute became the second batch of member of APEC Cooperative Network for Low Carbon & Energy Efficient Cities and APEC Sustainable City Service Network receptively. President Li Zhu presented issued the certificates to them and they will work together on the sustainable development of low-carbon energy efficient cities and the development of sustainable energy technologies in the APEC region.
At the same time, the APEC ESCI award presentation ceremony was held. Ms. Xuantong Zhuasthe conferring guests issued certificates to experts.
After the ceremony, experts from Hong Kong, China and APEC Cooperation Network of Sustainable Cities (CNSC) Program Joint Operation Center reported on the experience of sustainable urban construction, advanced energy technology and the work of CNSC Joint Operation Center.
APEC Sustainable Energy Center has been committed to the construction and promotion of low-carbon towns since its establishment. APEC Workshop on Sustainable Cities is hosted by the APSEC. Through discussion with officials of APEC economies, city leaders of international organizations and financial institutions, representatives of cities representing cities in the Asia-Pacific Regions and well-known industries, universities and research institutions to discuss effective models and comprehensive solutions for the sustainable development of Asia-Pacific Regions.
