APSEC Attended the 60th APEC Energy Working Group Meeting
On 7-11 December, the 60th APEC Energy Working Group Meeting (EWG60) was successfully held online by Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Jyuung-Shiauu Chern, the Lead Shepherd of EWG. Representatives from 19 member economies, 4 Expert Groups, 2 Task Forces, 2 research centers as well as International Energy Agency (IEA) and the International Copper Association (ICA), the 2 observers attended the Meeting.
APSEC, as one of the entity research centers under APEC EWG mechanism, attended this meeting and reported related progress in daily work and APEC projects.
During the meeting, member economies reach a consensus to IEA and ICA’s request for the renewal of its guest status in EWG for 2021-2023. Moreover, Dr. Chern encourage EWG to promote more inter actions with SOM to gain further support, especially for future AMM Statement and Leader s’ Declaration.
APEC EWG meeting is held regularly twice a year and organized by APEC member economies in turn. The 61st APEC Energy Working Group and associated meeting will be held by Brunei online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
