Project Introduction

“APEC Cooperative Network of Sustainable Cities” is part of “APEC Cooperative Initiative for Jointly Establishing an Asia-Pacific Urbanization Partnership” and had been approved in The Annual APEC Economic Leaders’ Meetings in 2014. During the following year, APSEC had been implemented by APEC as the official organization. Based on mechanism of APEC Energy Working Group (EWG) APSEC starting to promote Energy Smart Community initiative (ESCI) and Low Carbon Model Town (LCMT) project and sets up CNSC as one of pillar program.

In order to achieve the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goal 11 “Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”, and APEC Energy Goals “To double the share of renewables in the APEC energy mix, including in power generation by 2030” and “To reduce APEC’s aggregate energy intensity by 45% from 2005 levels by 2035”, CNSC has carried out a lot of research. APEC sustainable urban development model and results research has accumulated a large number of theoretical foundations and excellent practice cases; at the same time, the research on the forms of sustainable urban low-carbon energy system has laid the foundation for promoting the transfer and application of urban energy technology to realize the transformation of urban low-carbon energy.

In 2017,APEC Cooperative Network of Sustainable Cities (CNSC)Program Joint Operation Center was established

In 2018,CHINA ASSOCIATION OF BULIDING ENERGY EFFICIENCY signed the tripartite agreement and formally joined CNSC Program Joint Operation Center

APEC cities, provinces, municipalities, regencies and towns can join the Cooperative Network of Sustainable Cities by filling in the Membership Declaration for Provinces, Cities, and Municipalities in the Annex of the Invitation to cooperate with the APEC Cooperative Network for Sustainable Cities CNSC which can be downloaded here
