APSEC Attended the 61st APEC Energy Working Group Meeting

On 21-25 June, the 61st APEC Energy Working Group Meeting (EWG61) was successfully held online by Minister of Energy, Brunei Darussalam. The meeting was chaired by Madam Ariadne BenAissa, the acting Lead Shepherd of EWG. Representatives from 18 member economies, 4 Expert Groups, 2 Task Forces, 2 research centers as well as Transportation Working Group (TPTWG) attended the Meeting.

APSEC, as one of the entity research centers under APEC EWG mechanism, attended this meeting and reported related progress in daily work and APEC projects. The proposed planning to upgrade CCT Pillar Program to CET Pillar Program is endorsed by EWG members. APSEC will further strengthen the exchange and cooperation with APEC members to contribute to the energy sustainable development in APEC.

During the meeting, the revision of Energy Security Initiative (ESI) and EWG Terms of Reference (TOR) were discussed. Madam Ariadne BenAissa from the United States was elected as the newly EWG Lead Shepherd(2021-2022).

APEC EWG meeting is held regularly twice a year and organized by APEC member economies in turn. The 62nd APEC Energy Working Group and related meetings will be hosted by Canada from October 18-22, 2021.
