Energy Administration (NEA) officially announced the establishment of the APEC Sustainable Energy Center (APSEC).The establishment of APSEC is an important achievement of the Chinese government's active response to APEC leaders' "Asia-Pacific Urbanization Partnership Initiative". It has been mentioned in the 2014 11th APEC Energy Ministers' Meeting Statement and the 22nd APEC Leaders' Declaration. In the same year, the National Energy Administration and Tianjin University signed the "Agreement on Cooperation and Operation Management of APEC Sustainable Energy Center", and entrusted Tianjin University to be responsible for the daily operation management of APSEC. As the first international energy organization guided by the National Energy Administration (NEA) and "first class" renowned think-tank in Tianjin University, APSEC is supervised by a Steering Committee which is composed of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, the National Energy Administration (NEA) and Tianjin University. The objective of APSEC is to provide intellectual support and guarantee for China's proactive participation in energy cooperation under the APEC framework, to provide a platform for sustainable energy technology cooperation, overall solutions and professional services for APEC economies, and to actively coordinate the sustainable development in energy and environmental matters in the APEC region.
Since the establishment of APSEC, China has closer relationship with other economies in the APEC region in the fields of sustainable energy and sustainable cities. Through diversified ways such as policy dialogues, experience sharing, academic seminars, and technical exchanges, China has not only learned advanced technologies in the APEC region, and accelerated the development of sustainable energy and sustainable cities in China, but also has the opportunity to promote Chinese advanced sustainable energy technology and excellent sustainable city practices and disseminate Chinese sustainable development concept to the APEC region.
With the strong support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, the National Energy Administration (NEA) and Tianjin University, APSEC responded positively to the goals set by APEC leaders in the direction of sustainable energy, gave full play to its role as a model, and fully assisted China's energy sector to further expand its influence in the APEC region and the world, and fulfilled the major country's environmental commitments to the world.
